The unity of different social and ethnic groups: social cohesion in practice
From Future of Local Services to the Public
Contents |
Social cohesion
The unity of different social and ethnic groups throughout and between the different communities in the UK.
What is it all about?
Many different studies:
One of which is the CIPFA (2007) The Future of Services to the Public, which identifies that the different possible future scenarios have differing implications for social cohesion.
This report also identifies that if the World Markets scenario, which they think is the most plausible for the UK in 2030, takes place there will be pressure on the middle class who will be forced to pay for increasingly expensive (once public) services, with the very rich able to pay, and the very poor provded for with a social safety net.
Who is it most relevant for?
Policy maker and strategic decision-makers who are considering Sustainable Community Strategies and LAA plans for ensuring that communities are cohesive and resentment does not take hold and create social problems.
What are the likely impacts of this?
